The big blue social network, Facebook, announced on Monday that it is buying Instagram. If you don’t know what Instagram is, well its a photo-sharing service network that lets users see and comment on people’s uploaded pictures. Its like Facebook, but with only pictures to share. Instagram is a small two year-old company based in San Francisco and they are having a big success. Instagram has more than 30 million users.

Facebook is trying to be the best and the most dominant photo sharing service. At the end of 2011, Facebook users were uploading more than 250 million pictures per day. Instagram has developed an amazing platform for photo sharing.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook co-founder and CEO, posted an updated on his Facebook profile that said, Instagram will be joining Facebook to help the social network add new features to photo-sharing. Zuckerberg also noted that Facebook is “committed to building and growing Instagram independently.”

Now how will this effect the average user of Facebook and, or Instagram. Instagram users will still be able to share photos and keep their Instagram profile and lists separate from their Facebook. It wasn’t really clearly stated what the changes will take place but Facebook’s photo sharing will definitively be improved. It is interesting to me what Facebook and Instagram are doing but, personally, I don’t think this will effect my usuage of Facebook nor Instagram.

Is this a good idea? What do you think will happen after this? Will these effect you or do you just not care? Leave a comment below.
